Aussies Need to Adapt for Offshoring: Manpower CEO

March 26th 2015 - Thursday

Manpower Group CEO, Jonas Prising says more offshoring of Australian jobs is inevitable as local businesses compete with cheaper overseas labour.

Prising said Australians needed to better embrace the global nature of the workplace. “You cannot stand in front of it and hope it will go away. It is going to continue,” he told News Ltd recently.

“What is it that Australia wants to be really good at, in terms of their workforce? Australia will not be able to compete on low cost and unskilled labour,” Prising said. Instead, he said Australia needed to focus on its areas of competitive advantage such as professional services, tourism and higher skilled manufacturing.
